Waist-to-height ratio is a simple measure of central obesity or fat accumulation in the abdominal area. Central obesity is a better predictor of cardiometabolic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart attack than BMI.
Waist-to-Height Ratio = Waist circumference / Height
Steps for Measuring Waist Circumference:
Stand straight and locate the lowest rib. Mark this point with a pen.
Find the top of the hip bone and mark it.
Measure around your waist at the midpoint between these two points using a non-stretch tape while breath is held in expiration.
