Your Heart Health

Several factors can make you prone to heart blockages. These risk factors can be improved through lifestyle changes or medications (modifiable), or they cannot be changed (non-modifiable).

Heart Health

You need to be aware of these risk factors to promote optimum heart health. It's important that you assess these risk factors and work on managing them.  If you have non-modifiable risk factors, you need a more stringent control of modifiable risk factors.  

Mantras for Good Heart Health:

  • No smoking/chewing tobacco of any form
  • Walk for 30-45 minutes daily
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Regular medical checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, or cholesterol levels
  • Take medications as prescribed by your physician

It's suggested to assess cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk every five years. You can calculate your risk score using the link below:
