I am a medical educator (Scientist D) at the National Medical College Network, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, with over fourteen years of experience in academics and clinical research in the field of nutrition. Prior to my current role, I worked as an Assistant Professor at University of Delhi, where I was actively involved in teaching and mentoring students in nutrition science. Additionally, I have around 3 years of experience as clinical nutritionist at a renowned hospital in Delhi-NCR. In this role, I worked closely with patients suffering from a broad spectrum of medical conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, liver disease, gastrointestinal disorders, and cancer. I am a certified Diabetes Educator by International Diabetes Federation and an executive member of Indian Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. I was the advisor at National centre of excellence for advanced research on diets where I provided key insights into developing advanced nutrition strategies for non-communicable diseases. Over the years, I have worked in different areas of research including transplant nutrition, adolescent health, anaemia, tuberculosis, infections, and other non-communicable diseases.
I have taken keen interest in working towards development of strategies for preventing and combating non-communicable diseases. The increasing prevalence of CAD in India, coupled with the lack of effective dietary interventions tailored to the Indian population, was one of the inspiring factors for me to explore the Mediterranean diet's potential benefits. As a part of the project, I have been actively designing the education material based on Mediterranean diet principles for CAD patients.
